Just got a note from Jan Keisser, a veteran local cinematographer who's lensed a ton of films, who I'll be inviting to join me for a special "stage and screen" evening at Pacific Theatre next season (details to follow). I've been hearing about his latest project, FIDO, for several months now, as it's made its way around the festival circuit (TIFF, Sundance), and it sounds like a hoot! Small Canadian town, 1950s, with domesticated zombies. Sounds hilarious in a droll Canadian way. Billy Connolly, Carrie-Anne Moss.
Anyhow, it opens this weekend (though not in the states until June 15), and knowing how key those opening weekend box office receipts can be, especially for Canadian films, I'm going to make a point of seeing this one in the next few days.
See you there!
